It's Not An Emotion

It’s not an emotion…
just a feeling of the hour…
Is it our privilege?
Is this why our souls cower
in the dark all alone
in absence of its light?
We are all lost without
this word’s four letter might.

Life seems dim and lonely.
Lost, it feels most like a curse.
Crushed by low betrayal…
Sentiment born in a hearse…
But… what might we be
when we turn from the cold?
What might be our new fate
if our path may be so bold?

Between two lonely hearts…
a bond forged in loyalty…
a gift to birth our hope…
we find strength in honesty.
In it’s throes we revel…
an assured companion ours.
The heart of warmth and light
On our future dream flowers

This pledge is an embrace
all the gift that is True Love
Love’s not an emotion
It’s much more than we dreamed of
Love is more than passion…
always more than honest…
Love’s not an emotion.
My heart, Love is a promise.

Through True Love’s Eyes

True love is generous and supportive; it will always set itself apart with a joy that, in comparison, exposes the manipulative self-obsession of users whose interest only ever serves themselves.

I’ve been through fire… left alone to dance…
Been pulled from the ash heap of romance…

At last set free in joy, a gift from above…
To share the soul mates’ journey of true love…

For him and me, a promise… not of ease,
But, we’ll not go alone through life’s unease.

And here you come, thinking that hope to dash,
But, I see true… your words are blackest ash…

With smiles struggling through my tears…
From new eyes I see your barren fears.

You dole out handfuls of mediocrity…
While true love is lost in your superiority.

Your every cause only kindling trauma…
Your Shanghaied pain is naught but drama…

You are nothing…raping, stealing voices of pain
From some other heart’s regret. Your pleas I disdain.

Seasons of Love

An allegory of Life’s journey to forever love…
We may love deeply and sincerely even when that love doesn’t last or is misplaced. The seasons of love have something to teach us. The lessons we learn along the way, if we take them in, will teach us to not only discern True Love, but also how to make it a forever love.

Soft and gentle Summer love…
When did share love’s first kiss…
‘Pon my lips flutter as wings of a dove.
We shall always remember this.

Autumn come with love’s deep need…
A space… a while… a hand I grasped…
To stay a time, yet end and heed…
’Tis not he will share thy days unto the last.

Winter heart too cold… too cold to sing…
In sun too dim, and dark too bright…
For Greed has no love to bring…
And Love for Greed will give no light.

But, ah-h… at last comes vernal relief…
A tender bud laid in the heart of winter…
When true love blooms in heartache’s release…
And deliver Love’s Spring in our forever…

Poem: "Move On, Move On…"

A tribute to my grandparents and their enduring love…

Walking the mall hand in hand
A pause to share a light, chaste kiss

Move on, move on…

Smiles from strangers who pass
To see these two elders still so in love

Move on, move on…

So long together they’ve always been
Still holding hands, gazing ‘pon t’other with love

Move on, move on…

Now clinging to life, so hard to let go
Not for himself but still for her

Move on, move on…

He hangs by a prayer and a hope
A hope to lift a hand to her brow once more

Move on, move on…

So many years for her he worked
For only her comfort, her joy

Move on, move on…

At peace now, for he knows
I promise she’ll not be forgotten

Move on, move on…

Ahead now he flies on to Heaven
There to await, again to take her hand

Move on, move on…

Lain for so long in the home of the forgotten
She always remembers her lover

Move on, move on…

The once lively eyes unfocused
Seeing who knows not what or where

Move on, move on…

So soon once he’d gone now it seems
She’s hurrying along for to follow

Move on, move on…

Not yet a year had gone past
Before she lay, herself to life tightly clinging

Move on, move on…

Told now it’s alright, go head, now move on
He’s gone ahead, is waiting Above for you

Move on, move on…

Passed on now to Heaven, to her lover
Hand in hand for all Eternity they walk

Move on, move on…
